Severe Storm Threat Comes Amid Storm Spotter Training Push in Southeast Wisconsin
MILWAUKEE, Wis. – (Civic Media) – Southeastern Wisconsin faces a dual severe weather threat in the next couple days, with scattered thunderstorms capable of gusty winds and hail expected Thursday night, followed by a slight risk of severe storms Friday. The National Weather Service (NWS) warns that Friday’s cold front could produce large hail and damaging winds if storms develop.
Spotter activation may be required both nights. It’s good timing to raise awareness, as the NWS Milwaukee office is hosting free two-hour storm spotter training sessions across the region. The training allows for volunteers to provide critical ground reports to add-on to radar data.
There’s a Storm Spotter training session in Racine County today, that’s being held at the Gateway iMET Center in Sturtevant. Other upcoming events are coming to Dodge County (April 21), Kenosha County (April 22), Milwaukee County (April 24), and Jefferson County (April 30).

Sessions cover safety protocols and reporting procedures, with recorded training available in May for those unable to attend live.
