Four Tornadoes Confirmed in Tuesday’s Storms; More Storms Possible
SULLIVAN, Wis. (Civic Media) – The National Weather Service confirmed four tornadoes touched down in severe storms that swept through southeast Wisconsin this week… so far.
The first tornado, an EF0, struck Dodge County just after 12:45 a.m. Tuesday near Beaver Dam, around the Shaw Marsh State Wildlife Area. It had peak winds of 85 mph and caused minor damage to homes, the weather service said.
Another tornado, rated EF2, hit the town of Lisbon in Waukesha County shortly before 6:30 p.m. It formed near Highway 164 and Good Hope Road, just west of Sussex. With top winds reaching 120 mph, it was on the ground for about six minutes and covered just over 3 miles. Officials said it tore the roof off a building, destroyed a small outbuilding, damaged other structures, and snapped trees.
In Walworth County, an EF1 tornado touched down around 8:30 p.m. near Hodunk and Church roads, southwest of East Troy. The weather service said it had winds near 100 mph.
Another EF1 tornado struck Racine County a few minutes later, starting northwest of Waterford and crossing the north side of the village. That twister also had peak winds near 100 mph, according to the weather service.
No serious injuries were reported, but cleanup crews spent Wednesday assessing damage and restoring power to affected areas.
Another round of storms could come through tomorrow night.
