Gavel Passes in Waukesha: Evers Seeks Applicants for Circuit Court
Madison, Wis (WAUK) – A seat on a Waukesha County bench is opening up. Gov. Tony Evers announced on Friday that he is seeking applicants for the Waukesha County Circuit Court – Branch 4, following the resignation of Judge Lloyd V. Carter, effective July 1, 2024.
Carter has served as the judge for Branch 4 of the Waukesha County Circuit Court since 2011, when he was first elected. He defeated incumbent Kathleen Stilling with 67% of the vote in that election. Carter went on to win re-election without opposition in the general election on April of 2017.

The new judge will complete a term ending July 31, 2025.
Those that think they could fill the role have an application process to complete. Interested individuals must email a completed application form and supporting materials to [email protected] by 5 p.m. on Fri., April 26, 2024. The application can be found on the “Apply to Serve” page on Gov. Evers’ website at www.evers.wi.gov.
A statement says the appointment process will include a review of the applicants’ qualifications, as well as interviews conducted by a panel of legal experts. Gov. Evers will then make the final selection, with the new judge taking the bench on Aug. 1, 2024.
