The summer solstice, which marks the official start of summer, falls on the year’s longest day and shortest night. Though warm temperatures often arrive well in advance of the date, the solstice remains a widely recognized milestone of the season.
Several festivals and community celebrations take place across Wisconsin in recognition of the occasion. Among them is the Summer Solstice Music Festival in Oak Creek, which spans an entire weekend. On June 21, the event runs from noon to 7 p.m. and features live music, food trucks and additional programming open to the public.
