La Crosse construction zone crash involving 6 vehicles, including a school bus, injures 5
A construction zone traffic crash near La Crosse left a vehicle pinned under a school bus, and resulted in five injuries.
Construction had reduced eastbound traffic to a single lange, which caused a traffic backup. The driver of a school bus, which was not carrying passengers or children at the time, did not observe the slowed traffic ahead, which led to the accident.
As a result of the collision, one vehicle became pinned beneath the school bus, trapping two occupants. Emergency responders successfully extricated the individuals. The crash involved six vehicles, all eastbound lanes of Interstate 90 were closed, and traffic was rerouted for approximately five hours.
The crash remains under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol Technical Reconstruction Unit and Motor Carrier Enforcement Unit.
