Bond was set at $5 million cash for a Ripon man suspected of trying to kill a 38-year-old Fond du Lac woman with a hatchet Sunday afternoon.
Hayden Daffinson made his initial appearance in Fond du Lac County Court Wednesday. He’s charged with attempted first degree intentional homicide, first-degree sexual assault, two counts of Mayhem, first-degree reckless injury, aggravated battery, felony intimidation of a victim, and false imprisonment. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 31st.
According to the criminal complaint the victim called 911 and when Fond du Lac Police arrived they found a bloody scene. The victim had suffered multiple injuries that required seven to eight hours of surgery at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah. A second surgery is scheduled for today.
Her arms and hands took most of the blows from the hatchet, both arms were broken, and she had several skull fractures.
According to the complaint the victim had broken up with Daffinson and she allowed him to come back to her residence to retrieve some of his personal property. She told investigators she believed he allowed her to live because she promised to tell police she fell down the stairs.
Daffinson was arrested Sunday night following a high-speed chase near Germantown.
