MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Civic Media) – The Milwaukee Brewers will celebrate the life of beloved broadcaster Bob Uecker with a public ceremony on Aug. 24, before their game against the San Francisco Giants. Owner Mark Attanasio announced plans for a summer tribute shortly after Uecker’s death at 90 in January but revealed the date Monday.
Emmy-winning broadcaster Bob Costas, a longtime friend of Uecker, will host the event. The ceremony will feature special guests and videos showcasing rare content from Uecker’s life.
All fans with tickets will receive a lapel pin featuring the Brewers’ uniform patch honoring Uecker. Baseballs and bases displaying a Uecker celebration logo will be used during the game. A raffle will benefit three charities Uecker supported: the Wounded Warrior Project, the ALS Association, and the Medical College of Wisconsin Bob Uecker Chair for Cancer Research.
Uecker broadcast Brewers games for 54 years before passing away in January.
