The tradition of leftovers and basketball continues for the Assumption Boys and Girls Basketball teams as they host the 40th annual Cranberry Classic over Friday and Saturday, Nov. 29 and 30.
The Girls Division will feature Assumption, Columbus Catholic, Nekoosa and Pittsville, while the Boys will showcase Assumption, Columbus Catholic, Nekoosa and Port Edwards.
The Girls games are Nekoosa vs Pittsville at 11:30 a.m. and Assumption vs Columbus at approx. 1:15 p.m..
In the Boys Division, Nekoosa vs Port is at 6:15 p.m., with the Royals vs Dons at 8:00 p.m..
The Saturday games have the same times with the girls title game being at 1:15 p.m. and the boys being at 8:00 p.m..
It was a strong weekend in Detroit for the Riverkings as they won its first two games of the tournament over Cincinnati 2-0 and Columbus 4-2, but dropped the final two to the Metro Jets 6-1 and Toledo 3-0.
Rapids is tied atop the USPHL North Division with the Minnesota Squatch with 32 points apiece.
Rapids next plays over Friday, December 6, and Saturday the 7 when they host the Minnesota Blue Ox at the South Wood County Recreation Center with puck drops at 7pm both nights.
