The 2nd Assembly District covers parts of Brown, Manitowoc, and Brown counties roughly south of Green Bay and east of Appleton.
By Jimmie Kaska, Civic Media StaffWISCONSIN (Civic Media) – Incumbent Republican Shea Sortwell has been called the winner of the race for the 2nd Assembly District in Wisconsin.
The Associated Press made the call Tuesday evening.
The Republican Party was favored in this district going into the election, according to CNalysis. The district was considered very likely Republican with a projected margin of 22 points.
Sortwell was first elected to the Assembly in 2018. Sortwell is a former U.S. Army Sergeant and serves on six committees, including the Committee on Veterans and Military Affairs. He is also a member of the American Legion.
Sortwell defeated Democratic challenger Alicia Saunders, a military veteran with the U.S. Navy and ran on a platform of unity, equality, and supporting veterans.
