KENOSHA, Wis (WRJN) – Gateway Technical College has been awarded the Metallica ‘All Within My Hands‘ Scholarship for the sixth consecutive year, continuing its streak since the scholarship’s inception.
This year, the college will receive $5,000 to support students in the Advanced Manufacturing program, marking the third year this funding will be directed towards the expanding career field.
“Gateway Technical College is honored to once again be part of the Metallica Scholars initiative through the American Association of Community Colleges,” said Matt Janisin, executive vice-president of Academic Affairs at Gateway.
A statement says the scholarship has been instrumental in equipping students with skills in automation and robotics technologies, meeting the growing workforce demand. Graduates from the Metallica Scholars program have successfully secured positions with industry leaders such as Seda International and Good Foods Group.
Peter Delgrosso, executive director of All Within My Hands (AWMH), praised the initiative, stating, “Metallica, through their foundation, is changing how people view and engage with the trades in this country, and it is working.” The AWMH foundation, launched by Metallica in 2019, has invested over $10.5 million in workforce education, supporting community colleges across the nation.
This year, the initiative has expanded to include all 50 states.
